Boys & Girls Clubs of Venice | Promotional Magazine and Gala Program

Boys & Girls Clubs of Venice | Promotional Magazine and Gala Program

We love projects like this! The Boys & Girls Clubs of Venice holds an annual fundraising Gala, but often found that attendees simply left their programs on their seats when the event was over. Additionally to stretch their limited promotional budget they needed a vehicle they could use throughout he year. The answer was a promotional magazine that conveyed the “Venice Vibe,” and touted the positive impact the club has on the community. The program was stitched into the magazine’s center and most went home with Gala attendees.

Portraiture | Traveling Exhibition

Portraiture | Traveling Exhibition

In Portraiture an Exhibition Shane Guffogg brings to light his unique and thoughtful insights into why portraits are so important in the human experience. Works by Ed Ruscha, Michael Lindsay-Hogg, Xander Berkley and others were selected for this traveling exhibition. With so may high profile artists in the show our challenge was to make sure each artist had an equal standing in the advertising campaign while making sure the public understands that the show is not a group show but rather PORTRAITURE as seen through the eyes of Shane Guffogg.

Shane Guffogg | The Observer is the Observed | Museum Show Catalog

California artist, Shane Guffogg, asked us to design a 200-page catalog for his museum show in St. Petersburg, Russia. The hardbound book, which included copy in both English and Russian, was printed in Russia by printers who spoke no English. Our translator had no experience with printing and we were separated by an eleven-hour time difference. It was both stressful and hilarious. The book was very well received, and the second edition will be ready in time for his upcoming Museum shows in Baku and Paris.

Rose Bowl Aquatics Center | Girls Water Polo Trademark

Rose Bowl Aquatics Center | Girls Water Polo Trademark

The Rose Bowl Aquatic Center offers several unique programs for youth. We developed this trademark to increase awareness of Girls Water Polo. The mark decorated merchandise that was sold to raise money.

Craftsman Films | Corporate Identity

Craftsman Films | Corporate Identity

After leaving his post as the head of Paramount Television, Kerry McCluggage asked us to design an identity for his next venture. He gave us free reign to come up with a mark that spoke to his aesthetic and conveyed the quality of “handmade” craftsmanship.

Buena Vista Home Entertainment | AARP Magazine Holiday Consumer Ad

Buena Vista Home Entertainment | AARP Magazine Holiday Consumer Ad

This was a really interesting challenge. We were asked to produce an ad that would appear in AARP Magazine encouraging grandparents to buy Disney DVDs for their grandchildren. We used the comedic premise that many grandparents, especially those many miles away, have a knack for getting kids’ sizes wrong. We avoided having to show both a girl and boy by obscuring the child, leaving only the shoes and a mop of hair sticking up. Disney’s DVDs were certainly a perfect fit.

Australian Terrier Club of America

Australian Terrier Club of America

The Australian Terrier Cub of America meets once a year to celebrate this lovable breed. The “Specialties” as they’re called, move around the country. Their 76th Specialty will be held at the historic Queen Mary in Long Beach, California. We designed this bright and happy logo to mark the occasion, connecting this unusual dog and the famous nautical venue.

Capuchin Franciscans | 100 Years in the West

The Capuchin Franciscan Order was established in the Western United States in 1910. 100 years later they are a powerful force for good, stretching from the United States into Northern Mexico. A monumental task, the 100th Anniversary brochure was created as both a historical record as well as a fundraising brochure that continues to serve many years hence.

Montrose-Verdugo City Chamber of Commerce | Oktoberfest Trademark

Montrose-Verdugo City Chamber of Commerce | Oktoberfest Trademark

For the 36th annual Oktoberfest event the organizers decided that it might be fun to include beer in the mark. We couldn't agree more. After all what is Oktoberfest with out sausage and beer? The new identity plays off the shape of a beer label and includes the beloved clock and the bubbles that imply what Oktoberfest is really about.

Heritage Baseball | Identity

Heritage Baseball | Identity

We love everything about baseball, the pace, the grass, the tradition. So when we were asked to develop an identity to celebrate the rich history and athletes of the old Negro Leagues it was a natural fit. There are so many wonderful moments in baseball that we decided to use more than one image to depict and honor the men who played the game because they loved it.

Healtheon+IBM | Trade Magazine Ad

Healtheon+IBM | Trade Magazine Ad

Healtheon and IBM teamed up with revolutionary software aimed at integrating all of the disparate systems that plagued hospitals and major healthcare providers. Originally contracted to create sales kits, our research discovered that sales people needed their clients to better understand what it was they were selling. When this ad hit the phones rang off the hook and they had to scramble to follow up on all the leads.

MGM | Corporate Image Campaign

MGM | Corporate Image Campaign

MGM wanted to develop a campaign that reinforced their rich history while bringing attention to the next chapters of their impressive motion picture franchises. We used the recognizable stars of these “tent pole” franchises to stress that MGM still had the star power and creative vehicles to remain a force in Hollywood.

Montrose Shopping Park Association | Proposed Centennial Trademark

Montrose Shopping Park Association | Proposed Centennial Trademark

Montrose, California is a charming little town with an interesting history. Originally an agricultural area dominated by citrus orchards, it was later subdivided and developed. The famous LA Red Car line used to travel up one of the main streets bringing visitors from as far away as Long Beach. For Montrose’s Centennial trademark we incorporated some of these elements, celebrating those little intangibles that make Montrose such a special place.
